I visited Yellowstone National Park over February full moon and decided to make an image of Old Faithful geyser erupting by moonlight. There was snow lying and temperatures were significantly below -20 Centigrade. I estimated the time of eruption and an exposure that would register the superheated water plume and brighter stars. From a sequence of 30 second exposures I selected this one because steam from the geyser forms a pleasing shape as it wisps into the cold night sky.
