Almost the entire world population of Waved Albatross nests on Espanola island in the Galapagos. When not nesting, albatross patrol the open ocean, gliding effortlessly on their huge wings. I photographed this one from a cliff top on Espanola, deliberately capturing it looking down with the sea as background, to emphasise its ocean-going lifestyle. After some practice, my autofocus successfully locked onto the bird rather than the sea.
