Britain's largest and most attractive damselfly is found along streams in the New Forest. I noticed the potential for a composition of the damselfly resting on bracken against a dark background created by the shadow of adjacent woodland. It took some time before a male alighted in the position I had in mind and stayed there as I approached with a 100mm macro lens.
