At the winter solstice, the sun rises at its most southerly point, giving lighting angles that do not occur at any other time of year. I captured sunrise on the morning before the solstice through the south-facing arch of Durdle Door under a stormy sky as a wave breaks through the arch. A few moments later a wave filled my boots with water.
