Low Newton beach in Northumberland comprises an intriguing limestone platform that has been fissured into irregular slabs by erosion. About an hour after high tide water partly covers the slabs, enabling a long exposure to create a misty effect. On this July morning, the ideal tidal state coincided with sunrise and a bank of cloud provided an interesting sky.
