The biggest tides of each month occur two days after New Moon and two days after Full Moon. This two-day old crescent Moon over Clevedon Pier, Somerset has created a spring tide, which at this location coincides with midsummer sunset. An hour after sunset (and three days after the midsummer solstice), the tide had started to fall, leaving wet rocks at the top of the beach.
