Jurassic Coast Photography Tour
The Dorset and East Devon Coast World Heritage Site has the most varied geology of any coast in the world. On this photography tour we will explore a remarkable variety of coastal landforms such as rock arches, sea stacks, wave cut platforms, cliffs, coves and bays. The tour coincides with spring tides, giving us access to parts of the shore that are rarely exposed for photography.
In 2021, this tour will run over the winter solstice, giving the potential for lighting conditions that do not occur at any other time of year, including the opportunity to shoot a sunrise or sunset through Durdle Door. Weather permitting, low midwinter sun provides excellent lighting throughout daylight hours, bringing out rich tones and colours in cliffs and rocks that are not seen at other times. The combination of spring tides with midwinter light offers a unique photographic opportunity to make iconic images on this spectacular coastline. The programme will also include a dawn shoot at the evocative ruins of Corfe Castle.
Indoor sessions will look at composition for coastal landscape photography, the use of high dynamic range to deal with backlit and difficult lighting conditions and stitching images of the same scene with complex foregrounds to create striking panoramas.
Group Size: Maximum of 6 participants.
Recommended photographic equipment: Digital single lens reflex camera, lenses ranging from wide angle (ideally 16mm on full frame) to short telephoto (200mm+), tripod (essential), remote cable release, neutral density filters and polarising filter, waterproof camera cover. Warm clothes, walking boots and wellington boots or waders.
Dates: 18 to 21 December 2021
Meet at 10am on Day 1, depart 5pm on Day 4.
Four day tour, cost £645 (double/twin occupancy). Single supplement £105.
Included: Accommodation, breakfast and evening meal at the Springfield Country Hotel for three nights, travel from Wareham and guiding.

Comments from participants on a previous Jurassic Coast Tours with Natural World Photography:
"Loved every minute! I particularly liked the organisation which took the locations, tide times and weather into consideration - in fact I don’t think this could be improved upon ... The help given at each location was just right - options given, suggestions to composition ... I feel much more informed about the area from the point of history of the rock formations and how each can best be caught in a photograph ... This workshop exceeded my expectations and certainly developed my understanding of photography. Thank you so much Robert!" LM, Staffordshire.
