Roundway Down

Roundway Hill and Devizes White Horse viewed from Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire. Natural spotlighting

Roundway Down and Devizes White Horse viewed from Salisbury Plain this morning. I have always found this white horse a tricky one to photograph from anywhere close by and I think this distant view is better. To make it work I waited for a beam of sunlight to break through moody clouds and highlight the subject, whilst the foreground poppies show better colour saturation under overcast light. I do like these days when if the light is not quite right, just wait a few minutes and it will change.
