Tajinaste

The fabulous tajinaste or pink bugloss (Echium perezii) in the subalpine zone of Caldera de Taburiente National Park in La Palma yesterday evening. Related to the British viper's bugloss but confined to the Canary Islands, this is a splendid example of how species evolve spectacular forms when isolated on oceanic islands.
