GREAT MEW STONE AND WEMBURY POINT

Great Mewstone viewed from Wembury Point just after sunset. For centuries, this was the last English landmark seen by voyagers leaving Plymouth Sound. Hence the naming of prominent rocks in Australia and elsewhere in the English-speaking world as "Mewstone".

I composed so the rocks formed leading lines directing our attention towards the Mewstone. A neutral density filter enabled a 2-second exposure which smoothed the waves whilst retaining enough texture to give a sense of movement.
