ST MARY’S LIGHTHOUSE

Situated on a tidal island, St Mary’s lighthouse is a much-loved landmark on the coast of Whitley Bay in Tyneside. I timed my visit for a day on which the causeway was just covered by the tide at sunrise but unfortunately the sky was overcast. A neutral density filter enabled a 25-second exposure to smooth the sea and show motion in the clouds.
