TAJINASTE, CALDERA DE TABURIENTE
Tajinaste or giant bugloss (Echium pininana) is a spectacular endemic on La Palma in the Canary Islands, where it grows in the subalpine zone about 2000m elevation. I made this photograph on the rim of Caldera de Taburiente as the last rays of the setting sun caught the eastern side of the caldera and a cloud inversion formed far below.
