Frosted Fritillary

Frosted snakeshead fritillary at Clattinger Farm. A large majority of the entire wild British population of this charming native wildflower is found in unimproved meadows along the Thames flood plain in north Wiltshire. It is a marvel how such delicate beauty can withstand being hard frozen. This ability enables them to flower in April whilst most plants are just getting started. 600mm lens at f/4, 22 frames focus stacked.
