Glossy Ibis

Glossy ibis on the Somerset Levels. This exotic-looking bird has maroon, emerald, bronze and violet plumage. It was previously considered a rare vagrant in Britain but has become a scarce resident, with several recorded breeding attempts. The northward spread of glossy ibis from southern Europe is probably the result of milder winters due to climate change.
